The Oasis of Peace

The Oasis is a House of Prayer – a place for spiritual formation for adults and young people in the quiet of the Jersey countryside. 

This large house in the grounds of St Matthew’s Presbytery, Coin Varin, in St Peter’s offers hospitality to individual groups and organisations.  It also offers a welcome to Christians from other churches and their congregations.

Blessed and dedicated in 2007 by Cardinal Cormac-Murphy O’Connor, Archbishop of Westminster, the house has been refurbished to provide a flat on the top floor for the Director and his family. The first floor has bedrooms for individual visitors, and rooms with bunk beds for group use particularly by the young people who come for confirmation retreats, “sleepovers with God”, etc …….

On the ground floor there are meeting rooms and a beautiful chapel which is designed to look like a tent in an oasis. In the centre of this room there is a well, above which is a large monstrance forexposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
