Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD)

This is the official international development and relief agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. It is a member of the worldwide Caritas Internationalis federation. Together with local partner organisations in more than 50 countries, CAFOD works to build a better world for people living in poverty. In emergency situations, CAFOD provides immediate relief. It also stays on to help people rebuild their lives. CAFOD raises awareness of justice issues and encourages people to fundraise and campaign. All the churches in the Jersey Parish are involved in supporting CAFOS.

Bamenda Mission Support

The Catholic Church in Jersey supports the Archdiocese of Bamenda in Cameroon, West Africa. In 1974 the Diocese of Portsmouth was twinned with the then Diocese of Bamenda. At present Portsmouth has no priest working in Bamenda, but some priests from that diocese are now working in the Portsmouth diocese. Father James McAuley is on the diocesan Bamenda committee and is our local contact. He can be contacted via the parish office, telephone (01534) 720235 or by email: sthelier@catholicchurch.org.je.
